Some Things I've made but didn't get posted til now

This is my oldest daughter, Sadie. These photos are a couple of years old, but that's okay. I made this wrap for my grandmother for Christmas. I used "Baby Monkey" yarn that was so very soft! The dark blue is an Acrylic worsted, and the light blue is "Angel" from Jo-Ann's. The stripey combination was sort of me just knitting off the cuff. No pattern, no real idea what was going to happen until it was finished. We had a good time modeling the photos too.

This is my youngest daughter, Emily. She is wearing "Cotton Candy" mitts I made for her about the same time as the Blue Wrap. I used Caron Super Soft (which it really is!) and some discount fuzzy yarn with pink, peach and yellow bumps. I think I used 6 dpns, and just made it up as I went along. There is just a bound-off stitch or two for the thumb hole, then cast on after a few rows. I like making things without patterns, just to see what happens. It keeps my creative spirit busy.

These socks were finished early 2009 for my mom's best friend, Kathy. She retired and  I wanted her to have some nice, wooly early morning socks. I forgot to take pics when they were finished, but they were just plain 'ol socks. I like to make them with a 2x2 rib, all the way down the leg so there's lots of room (slouchy) If they get washed, they will still be nice over a pair of cotton socks.

This last week has been pretty much just work, homework, and keeping up with family drama. I haven't added even one row since last Sunday on mom's sweater. Sigh. Oh well, I'm just glad all is well.

Sundays

Three of the family dogs and I went for a walk/hike this morning. There are some pretty steep hills out back of the ranch, and good exercise to help me with my resolutions.

This one is Babydog. She's a cowdog that thinks she's a stick dog too. We were playing fetch and she just didn't want to share. Had a good laugh at the antics. I should bring a video next time.

 

On the way home (through the clay mud) I spied some tracks that weren't dog's. I think they are racoon. I'm not a track expert, but there are quite a few of those animals running around at night.

I managed a few more rows on the Cable sweater at the laundromat, but not enough to show off. More of the same from the last post. What with Pre-Calculus taking most of my intermittent time, I will be lucky to get the sweater handed to Mother unassembled, much less finished.

I had some really good ideas about making some fun quick items that should sell well at the spring craft sales. I only will have time to go to one, so I better do well. What with the economy and all- we'll see.

I like Sundays. Especially since I don't have to be at the hospital anymore during them. My middle daughter goes to church, which is right across the street from us, but as much as I like the people, I'm not into the 'congregating" thing. And my experiences and reading of the Bible has led me to believe that I don't have to be in a church to worry about my afterlife. I won't expound on religion anymore than that because I respect everyone's beliefs as they should mine. I supppose this is a bit of a rant, though, because I do feel pressured to come to church sometimes, and I sang in the church choir for Christmas. (they needed as many as would volunteer- I figured I could share that much of myself at least). Heck I dunno. I think being outside, or whatever I'm doing, feeling happy and content with the world, would keep Jesus happy too. (Or whatever spiritual body you choose).

I'm off to finish my Sunday with Math problems. I like math. Not sure if it likes me back yet..

Yeah. I know. I noticed it a little too late. Had to rip out like 15 rows. Oh well. I have to go study Algebra.

Sweater update

Back of sweater, almost done. Just doing the armhole decreases. These cables are nice and simple. I am really enjoying the work!
Monday was great at work. We got all our cases done with out a hitch, and all ready to go tomorrow. I love my job! Just wish it paid better.
All ready for school tomorrow night. Math 111 (college algebra). Going to work hard and shoot for an "A".

Sunday fun

Joe and I had a great day today. The sun was out, and after laundry, I took him and a few of the dogs for a walk. He enjoyed the water in the fields, (most boys do) and I just liked spending the time with him. I sometimes feel so guilty for doing all the other things and not being the mom I wanted to be for him. I never wanted to pay a daycare to raise my children.

I knitted on the sweater while at the laundromat, and so far it's going well. My cell phone does not take the best pictures, my apologies.

I work at a Surgery center, as most of you know. We have to wear scrub hats. I made a few and they are daringly different from the ones I have made for myself in the past. The pink cammo one is for my good friend, Jill. She looks really good in pink.

I just wanted something a little more 'fun'. We wear army green scrubs, so we look like a M*A*S*H unit.

While digging through the storage unit, I found that there was wool mixed with acrylic yarn. I know. That is a sin of sins for knitters. I quickly saved the wool from the acrylic, and have confessed on my blog, so all should be right with the universe. Just don't tell the Harlot.

I noticed Castlefibers starting some new projects having to do with a book. I got a few of her Tweets today, and now I am very curious as to what that's all about. I love dragons. I love medieval legends, and books written about them.

School starts again this week. I'm in college Algebra this time. Ready to get going with school again.

2010 and here we go

Again, my apologies for the sucky photos. It really does look better in person. Please feel free to distract from the color crappiness by focusing on the cables! I had forgotten how easy they were, and now I am wishing that I had picked a pattern with a lot more.
I'm ready to start my new exercise regimen. I signed up for Match.com, and most- well ALL my 'matches'  are looking for everything I am except my size (which is XXL).... It is rather depressing. Besides, I know that losing the weight will save lots of money all the way around. Food, Prescriptions, etc..

2010 did not start off as well as I hoped. My good friend, Teresa and I went to see "Avatar" at the theatre, and boy that was awesome! I encourage anyone to spend the money to see it. It will still be good at home, but you won't get the full effect that the cinema has to offer.

I decided to take on a challenge that was offered on Ravelry groups. This is the year I actually finish the projects that are unfinished. I have a few. Two sweaters, three afghans, 5 quilts, and countless other sewing projects. I think if I worked on two a month I should make a dent in the pile.. hee hee.

I hope there is someone out there for me. I miss the company of a man sometimes. Not like I have a lot of time to sit and mope about it, but this Holiday season especially was pretty hard. I have been bitter, grouchy, and not very nice to be around. I am going to change that for sure. My attitude anyway. The rest is out of my hands.

I hope 2010 is the year for all of you as well.
